Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty
1. Introduction
Gemini Components Ltd is committed to manufacturing and supplying premium quality engine components engineered to meet or exceed Original Equipment specifications.
Every genuine Gemini Components product is manufactured under strict quality control procedures and is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, subject to the terms and conditions contained within this warranty.
This Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty is provided by Gemini Components Ltd and applies only to genuine Gemini Components products purchased through Gemini Components Ltd or one of its authorised distributors or stockists.
This warranty is provided in addition to, and does not affect, any statutory rights available under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable UK legislation.
2. Warranty Period
Unless otherwise stated, genuine Gemini Components products are covered by a 5 Year / 60,000 Mile Manufacturer’s Warranty, consisting of two levels of cover.
Stage One – Comprehensive Warranty
For the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first, Gemini Components Ltd will, where a valid manufacturing defect is confirmed:
- Replace the defective product; or
- Refund the original purchase price; and
- Contribute towards reasonable labour costs in accordance with Section 3.
Stage Two – Parts Warranty
Following expiry of the initial 24-month / 24,000-mile period, and until five years from the original purchase date or 60,000 miles (whichever occurs first), Gemini Components Ltd will:
- Replace the defective product; or
- Refund the original purchase price.
During this period no labour, recovery, consequential loss or associated costs are payable.
3. Labour Contribution
Where a manufacturing defect is confirmed during the first 12 months / 20,000 miles:
Gemini Components Ltd will reimburse reasonable labour costs subject to the following conditions:
- Labour reimbursement shall be limited to the current published ICME Repair Times.
- Maximum labour reimbursement shall be £60.00 plus VAT per hour.
- Labour must be carried out by a VAT-registered professional repair workshop.
- A valid VAT invoice detailing labour performed must accompany the claim.
- Labour exceeding the published repair time or hourly rate shall not be reimbursed unless previously authorised in writing.
Gemini Components Ltd reserves the right to reject excessive or unsupported labour claims.
4. What This Warranty Covers
This warranty covers manufacturing defects including:
- Defects in materials.
- Manufacturing faults.
- Assembly defects.
- Premature failure directly attributable to defective manufacture.
Where liability is accepted, Gemini Components Ltd may, at its sole discretion:
- Replace the product;
- Repair the product where appropriate; or
- Refund the original purchase price.
5. Warranty Conditions
This warranty applies only where:
- The product has been installed by a competent person using recognised industry standards.
- Installation has been carried out in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s workshop procedures.
- The product has been used only for its intended application.
- Recommended ancillary components have been replaced where required by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Correct lubricants, coolants and service fluids have been used.
- The engine has been correctly maintained in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s service schedule.
- The vehicle has not been operated after symptoms of engine failure became apparent.
Proof of purchase must be retained.
6. Product Specific Conditions
Timing Chain Kits
Warranty applies only where:
- All components supplied within the timing chain kit have been installed.
- Engine timing procedures have been carried out strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
- The lubrication system is operating correctly.
- Known lubrication faults have been rectified before installation.
Failures resulting from oil starvation, contaminated oil, blocked oilways, incorrect installation or worn engine components are excluded.
Cylinder Heads
Cylinder heads must be:
- Installed using the correct head gasket and fastening components specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Installed onto correctly prepared, clean and flat mating surfaces.
- Fitted to an engine with a fully functioning cooling and lubrication system.
Damage caused by overheating, coolant loss, detonation, freezing, corrosion, poor maintenance or incorrect installation is not covered.
Pistons, Rings & Bearings
Warranty applies only where:
- Correct machining procedures have been followed.
- Correct piston-to-bore clearance has been achieved.
- Correct bearing clearances have been verified.
- Piston ring end gaps have been correctly set.
- The engine has been assembled under clean workshop conditions.
- Oil pressure and lubrication systems are fully operational.
7. Exclusions
This warranty does not cover failures caused by:
- Incorrect installation.
- Failure to follow vehicle manufacturer installation procedures.
- Oil starvation.
- Contaminated oil.
- Low oil pressure.
- Blocked oilways.
- Overheating.
- Cooling system failure.
- Engine seizure.
- Fuel contamination.
- Foreign object damage.
- Incorrect machining.
- Vehicle accident damage.
- Corrosion.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Abuse or neglect.
- Use with defective or incompatible components.
- Competition or motorsport use.
- Vehicle modifications.
This warranty also excludes failures resulting from:
- Engine management software that has been modified from the original manufacturer’s calibration, including ECU remapping, tuning, performance software or any unauthorised calibration changes, where such modification has contributed to or caused the failure.
Products which have been dismantled, modified or repaired without the written consent of Gemini Components Ltd are excluded from warranty.
8. Warranty Claims
Warranty claims must be submitted through the original supplying distributor or authorised retailer.
The following documentation must accompany every warranty claim:
- Original proof of purchase.
- Vehicle registration number or VIN.
- Installation date.
- Vehicle mileage at installation.
- Vehicle mileage at failure.
- Full description of the reported fault.
- Clear photographs where requested.
Where considered necessary to determine the cause of failure, Gemini Components Ltd reserves the right to request additional evidence including:
- An uncontaminated engine oil sample taken immediately following the failure for independent laboratory analysis.
- The engine oil filter for inspection.
- Service history and maintenance records.
- Diagnostic reports.
- ECU diagnostic information.
- Evidence that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) retains the original manufacturer’s calibration and has not been modified, reprogrammed or remapped.
- Any associated engine components considered relevant to the investigation.
Gemini Components Ltd reserves the right to recover and inspect the failed component together with any associated engine components before determining liability.
Products must not be dismantled, repaired or discarded without the written authorisation of Gemini Components Ltd.
Failure to provide requested evidence within a reasonable period may result in the warranty claim being declined.
9. Consequential Loss
Except for the labour contribution detailed in Section 3 during the initial 12-month / 20,000-mile warranty period, Gemini Components Ltd shall not be liable for:
- Labour costs.
- Vehicle recovery.
- Hire vehicle costs.
- Loss of earnings.
- Loss of business.
- Engine rebuild costs.
- Damage to associated components.
- Towing charges.
- Accommodation expenses.
- Any indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing contained within this warranty shall exclude or limit liability where such exclusion is prohibited by law.
10. Inspection & Technical Investigation
Gemini Components Ltd reserves the right to:
- Inspect any returned component.
- Carry out independent metallurgical or engineering analysis.
- Obtain laboratory oil analysis.
- Request ECU calibration verification.
- Request supporting workshop documentation.
- Reject any claim where evidence demonstrates that the failure was not caused by a manufacturing defect.
Warranty decisions shall be based upon the findings of Gemini Components Ltd and any independent technical reports commissioned during the investigation.
11. Transferability
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the product and is not transferable.
12. Statutory Rights
This Manufacturer’s Warranty is offered in addition to the purchaser’s statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and any other applicable legislation.
Nothing contained within this warranty shall restrict or remove those statutory rights.
13. Governing Law
This warranty shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute arising from this warranty shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
